Introduction to The Clarity Workshop
The Clarity Workshop is probably the most important work we’re going to do together. This is a workshop series I invite you to come back to over and over again because, over time, our ideas evolve and we evolve.
This workshop is about creating the space to quieten the outside voices and listen to ourselves so that we design a life and a business that are internally motivated. Over time, all of us adopt stories—sometimes from within ourselves, often as coping mechanisms we developed as kids and sometimes from external voices: our parents, a throwaway comment from a teacher, someone loud on Instagram, or a cultural zeitgeist telling us who we should be, what a good life looks like and what it means to be in business or to be human.
All this noise makes it hard to hear ourselves. When we create space—what we’ll do here in this workshop—we finally have an opportunity to listen to who we really are. From there we can build a life that is deeply aligned and deeply meaningful.
This has very practical ramifications. It helps us build a life and system we are genuinely motivated by. It helps us establish beautiful biofeedback in the body. It helps us set up the filtering systems in the brain so we can recognise what is a “yes” and what is a “no.” Our life, our resources, our time, our money, our energy—these are finite. We need space to ensure we are investing them into what creates a beautiful, important life for us—a life aligned with our values and dreams. Nobody else has the right to define that for you. This is between you and you.
During this workshop, I invite you to ask all those outside voices to exit the room. We have plenty of workshops that are practical and pragmatic and will require hard work. But this is the space to turn the volume down on the outside and up on the inside.
So when those voices show up—
“This isn’t practical.”
“This isn’t realistic.”
“I shouldn’t want that.”
“I should want something else.”
Those negative or bossy internal voices—ask them kindly to step out. You can deal with them later.
This is your space.
Enjoy it. This workshop is my favourite work.
